“Free” can mean a permanent limited tier, a short preview, a trial requiring a card, or simply free registration followed by paid credits. Do not equate these.
How to read this guide: Product documentation and editorial fit are not the same as independent hands-on testing. A blank or unverified allowance is not a zero. Prices and feature policies can change.
| Service | What publicly documented free access means | Important catch |
|---|---|---|
| Nomi | Provider wiki describes an ongoing free plan with 50 messages/day | Recheck in-app availability, current daily allowance and feature access |
| Replika | Official “Free Use” with limited access | Provider may restrict Free Use; advanced features require subscription |
| Kindroid | One-time ~50-message preview (15 in certain regions) | 3-day premium trial requires payment method and auto-renews |
| OurDream | Free signup is not free unlimited messaging; provider documentation lists 1 coin per free-user message | Media requires paid access and paid subscription unlocks more functionality |
| Other reviewed services | Not verified in current research | No claim of a free tier until tested |
Which free plan should you try first?
If ongoing free conversations are essential, Nomi and Replika are better places to investigate than Kindroid’s one-time preview. Nomi’s provider wiki lists a specific daily message allowance, while Replika describes its Free Use tier but does not promise unrestricted access.
If your primary interest is Kindroid’s configurable memory, its preview can still tell you something about the interface—but its paid trial requires a payment method and a cancellation reminder. The preview is not a permanent free alternative.
Four questions that expose misleading “free” offers
1. Can I send messages again tomorrow? A finite sign-up allotment differs from a recurring daily limit.
2. Is a payment card needed? Write down the exact end date of a trial and how to cancel.
3. Which model and media tools are included? “Free messages” may exclude calls, images, better models or memory.
4. What is the first recurring charge? A zero-dollar trial that renews into a higher tier should be compared against the full renewal amount.

Free access compared: real differences
| Service | Provider-described free access | Does it continue? |
|---|---|---|
| Nomi | 50 messages/day (source) | Indefinite free plan described |
| Replika | Limited Free Use (source) | Ongoing but provider discretion applies |
| CrushOn | Unlimited Free-Model chats; 100 credits/month for Pro Models (source) | Free Models and Pro credits differ |
| Kindroid | 50 preview messages in most regions, 15 in others (source) | No; read-only after preview |
| Candy AI | Generally 5 free messages (source) | Finite preview |
The most important distinction is between a daily refill, an ongoing free mode and a one-off preview. For continued free chat, investigate Nomi, Replika and CrushOn before Kindroid or Candy AI. Limits may differ by geography, model and account age; the linked documentation should be rechecked before making a decision.
Free accounts are not the same as free trials
Nomi: provider-maintained documentation describes indefinite free use with 50 messages per day. Kindroid: new users get a one-time allocation of 50 messages, or 15 in some regions, and then the account becomes read-only when the allowance expires. Its separate three-day paid-feature trial requires payment information and may convert into a paid subscription unless cancelled. OurDream: the official coin guide states free users spend one Dreamcoin per message. It does not substantiate unlimited free messaging.
For other services, we do not present an exact perpetual allowance without a current provider reference. This is not a criticism of the product; it means the current free plan needs to be checked through the official account flow.

| Service | Published price | Free use | Critical buying fact | Source |
|---|---|---|---|---|

Subscription price varies by chosen plan and purchase channel and was not confirmed in publicly accessible first-party materials. | Nomi documents a recurring free allowance of 50 messages/day. Its US iOS Store lists Standard Plan at $15.99 (interval not explicit), $39.99 quarterly and $99.99 yearly; additional Nomi Credits are optional paid purchases. | Provider documentation ↗ |
| Kindroid | Monthly plan: regional checkout | Official subscriptions documentation: a one-time preview of 50 messages (15 in some regions), plus five selfies and 5,000 audio credits. After the preview, the account becomes read-only unless subscribed. The three-day trial requires payment details and auto-converts unless cancelled. | A 50-message (sometimes 15-message) new-account preview is not a permanent free plan. | ourdream.ai | $19.99/mo documented reference | Provider documentation states free-user chats cost 1 Dreamcoin each; do not assume a continuing no-cost allowance. | At monthly Standard billing, 20 standard images + four 5-second videos + five voice minutes cost 750 Dreamcoins; 250 of the 1,000 monthly grant remain. 100 standard images + ten videos + five call minutes cost 1,750 Dreamcoins, a 750-coin shortfall before extra purchases. | Provider documentation ↗ |
| Replika | US iOS: $7.99 / $14.99 monthly | The official subscription guide describes a limited Free Use program; availability can be restricted at the provider’s discretion. | US App Store displays several distinct monthly and annual Replika in-app purchases, including $7.99 and $14.99 monthly products.
